The Northfield boys basketball team defeated North Miami 50-34 Thursday.

The Norse fell behind early but then used a suffocating defense to outscore North Miami 32-13 in the middle two quarters as the Norse won at North Miami 50-34.

Jake Halderman came to the rescue when early foul trouble sent Kaleb Krom to the bench. Halderman responded with 7 points in the second quarter on the way to career highs of 13 points and 7 rebounds. Joining Halderman in double figures was Clayton Tomlinson with 14 points and 6 assists. With those 6 assists Tomlinson tied Josh Merrick for the all time record with 313. Jayden Peas also notched double figures with 13 points. Eli Kroh in a start for the injured Dillon Tomlinson scored 6 points and added 7 rebounds and 7 steals as the Norse had 18 steals on the night.
Alex Haupert and Jaxton Peas rounded out the scoring with two points each. Trent Osborn came off the bench to add 5 assists and 4 steals. The Norse are now 4-6 but more importantly are 3-1 in the always tough TRC.

The JV moved to 5-5 as they defeated NM 51-24. The younger Norse had balanced scoring. Noah Burkhart and Jaxton Peas each scored 9 points. 8 points each from CJ Long and Tristan Hoffman. Eric Tracy had 7 points and 3 assists to go with 3 steals. Reid Haupert came off the bench to add 6 points as Kody Stambaugh and Ryan Burnet each scored a bucket.

The Norse will host Eastbrook on Saturday night for Senior Night.
