The Wabash Middle School soccer team was defeated by Maconaquah 3-1 Monday.

With only one game under their belt, the Apaches came into the contest with less experience than Maconaquah, but held the 2-1 Braves to only 3 goals on the night. Despite several good shot attempts by Ty Carpenter, Jonas Church, and Max Carpenter, the Apaches were unable to find the back of the net in the first half. Wabash settled into the game and started the second half much stronger, holding the Braves scoreless. With just over one minute left in the game, Josie Bailey capitalized off a poorly hit goal kick by Maconaquah and dribbled against intense defensive pressure into the Braves 18 for a direct shot on goal, finally getting Wabash on the board. In goal for the Apaches, Logan Wright ended the night with 6 saves in the first half and Kristian Stanton blocked one Maconaquah shot attempt in the second half. After 2 games, Wabash’s record is 1-1 with its next contest against the Peru Tigers on 4/20 at Alumni Field.
