Manchester hosted conference opponent Tippecanoe V alley and took home a 3-2 win
despite missing 2 varsity players.
Manchester swept the 3 singles spots quickly giving up only 3 total games. Eva Bazzoni turned in her most dominating performance of the year as she gave up very few points in her 6-0, 6-0 victory. “Eva has worked really hard
in practices and is turning those focus points into success in matches.” Halle Briner also won with a strong 6-1,6-1 performance. “Halle continues her leadership and impressive results on the court.” Next of f was Alyssa Marvel as she started strong and continued to control points winning 6-0,6-1. “Alyssa used her all around game to post a solid win
tonight. I’m proud of her bounce back from her tough loss last week.”
Kayla Hippensteel joined Abbie Wampler at 1 doubles. After a slow start and a 2-6 set loss, the duo caught
fire to win set two 6-1. In set 3 they trailed by a game up to 3-4 when Manchester won 2 games to lead 5-4. With W ampler serving, Abbie powered 2 great serves to lead 30-love. But Tipp Valley would be up for the challenge to take the game and win the next two for a 7-5 set 3 and match win. With Manchester leading 3-1, all eyes turned to
2 doubles where Sarah Kerlin was joined by fellow freshman Hailey Krom. The pair played a 1 hour 15 minute opening set in which they won in a seven point tiebreaker 12-10 for the 7-6 win. Set two was another close long battle ending in a 6-4 Tipp Valley win. With sprinkles and darkness arriving, a 10 point tiebreaker was played to settle the
match. V alley jumped out to a 4-0 lead but Manchester rallied back to tie it up 9-9. Manchester would lose the final two points and the match.
In JV play Manchester lost 1-4 with the only win coming of f the strings of Madison Baker and Emma Pyle, 8-4.
Manchester faces undefeated Peru on Wednesday and then conference opponent Maconaquah on Friday .
