Lady Apaches Soccer Shuts Out Valley

The Wabash girls soccer team defeated Tippecanoe Valley 8-0 Saturday.

The Wabash Lady Apaches had a great team win over the Tipp Valley Vikings, with every available player for today providing great minutes for Wabash. Junior goalkeeper Hannah Layne had several big saves with a total of 6 on the day. Senior Kalista Ballschmidt controlled the defensive effort with sophomores Laci Rae and Talia Carrillo providing great support in the back. Senior Linda Cordes held down the center of the field for the Apaches.

Sophomore Natalie Adams started the scoring effort for Wabash with a breakaway goal. Freshman Abbie Hipskind then crossed the ball in far post for junior Mar Perez to put away. Starting the 2nd half up 2-0, the Lady Apaches came out on fire with 3 goals in the first 10 minutes, with junior Rylee Yoakum leading the way both putting goals away and distributing to her team mates. Yoakum finished the game with 4 goals and an assist. Ballschmidt provided great service all game, with 2 of her service balls resulting in assists. Adams finished with 3 goals and an assist. The Lady Apaches are back in action Monday at home vs. Maconaquah.
