Norse JH Falls At Peru

The Northfield Junior High Norsemen suffered a 34-0 road loss to Peru Tuesday.

The Northfield defense played tough in the early stages of the game, giving up just eight first quarter points and a score late in the second quarter. Northfield did mount a nice drive at the at the half, however an errant pass was picked off and returned for a touchdown. Peru added two more scores, including one on a reverse late.
The Northfield offense was consistent all night, churning out 119 yards on the ground, including the mostly 7th grade game for two quarters.

Alec Oswalt paced the rushing attack with 11 carries for 42 yards with a long of 13. Gavin Brainard finished with 32 yards on six carries while Ryder Schram chipped in 23 yards on four attempts. Jake Perney added a quarterback scamper of 18 yards to lead the rushing.
Brayden Rice finished the night 3-of-6 passing for 43 yards. Korbin Haupert hauled in a 20 yard completion from Rice. Schram added two receptions for 13 yards.
Schram also punted the ball well, averaged 33 yards per kick.
Defensively, Trevor Galbraith led the the defense with five tackles. Rice recorded 4.5 with a pass defense while Haupert, Oswalt and Lucas Southwick all finished with three. Luke Eviston and Drake King had two tackles for loss.
Rylan Schultz had a forced fumble in the seventh grade game while Bryce Holley had the fumble recovery.
