The Southwood JH football team entered the contest (6-0) looking to complete the perfect season Wednesday.
The Knights won the toss and elected to defer to the second half. To start the game, Cooper Drake kicked in an onside kick which the Knights would recover. Southwood was able to capitalize on the onside kick as Griffin Chambers threw a short pass to Coan Holloway, who ran 45-yards for a touchdown. Coan Holloway would run in the PAT (8-0). In the next Southwood possession, Coan Holloway would run the ball 48 yards for Southwood’s second touchdown; Cooper Drakes PAT kick was good (16-0).
Southwood would stop Rochester on downs and take over at their 18-yard line to start the second quarter. Cohen Holloway would take the next handoff 82 yards for a Southwood touchdown; Cooper Drake PAT kick was good (24-0). The score after the first half of play was 24-0 Southwood.
Southwood received the ball to start the third quarter, and on Southwood’s opening drive, Maddox Marshall would run a 59-yard touchdown extending the Knight’s lead; Cooper Drakes PAT kick was good (32-0). Rochester answered with a touchdown of their own, converting on the PAT, making the score (32-8). Southwood’s next possession Maddox Marshall would run an 80-yard touchdown; the PAT was no good (38-8). Rochester would answer Southwood’s score with another touchdown and convert on the PAT (38-16). Rochester would then get the ball back again and score another touchdown just before the end of the third quarter; the PAT was no good (38-22).
On the opening drive of the fourth quarter, the Knights would drive the length of the field and score off a 16-yard run by Noah Baldwin; Cooper drakes PAT was good. (46-22). On Rochester’s final drive of the game, they would score off a big pass to the end zone then convert the PAT (46-30). The Knights would run out the clock on their next possession and complete the perfect season with a final score of (46-30)
