Lady Squires Win Thriller

The Manchester lady Squires defeated Peru 33-32 Wednesday.

The Lady Squires fought a hard defensive fight against a scrappy Peru team. During the first half, the Lady Squires held Peru to only 15 points and entered the second half with a 4 point lead. Peru fought back and took the lead down the stretch. The Squires hit some big free throws from Makenzy Meyer and Brookelynn Buzzard to tie the game up with 30 seconds left. With a strong defensive play, Keilan Creager comes down with a rebound that ends with possession and only 0.9 seconds left. Makenzy Meyer makes a great pass down court to find Ainsley West, who gets fouled as time ran off the clock. Ainsley stepped up to the line and finished the game with her free throw.

West led all scorers with 16 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks and 3 steals. Makenzy Meyer had 6 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 block. Brookelynn Buzzard had 4 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal. Molly Schannep had 4 points and 4 rebounds. Keilan Creager and Aliala Atienza both had fantastic defensive nights. Keilan added 2 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 assist, while Aliala had 1 point and 6 rebounds.
