Manchester’s Delayne Sanchez Named HCAC Hitter of the Week

CARMEL, Ind. – Manchester University sophomore Delayne Sanchez has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week, the league office announced on Monday April 18.

Sanchez (Osceola, Ind./Penn) has blossomed this spring for the Spartan softball program. In a 4-2 week for Manchester, which also saw the Spartans post a 3-1 mark in HCAC play, Sanchez combined to hit 10-19 (.526) at the plate with seven RBI.

Sanchez hit her first career collegiate home run on Friday in Manchester’s doubleheader sweep of Bluffton. She was also a perfect 3-3 on stole base attempts and scored twice during the week.

On the year, the sophomore center fielder leads the team in batting average at .375 (30-80). Sanchez ranks second on the team with 17 RBI and also has six stolen bases in 29 games.
