Southwood JH Track Host Knight Invitational

The Southwood junior high track team hosted the Knight Invitational Saturday.

The eighth grade team finished fourth out of six teams, with 86 points. Other schools competing in the Knight Invitational included Rochester (1st, 102 points), RJ Baskett (2nd, 101 points), Southern Wells (3rd, 87 points), Wabash (5th, 54 points), and Maconaquah (6th, 39 points). The seventh grade team finished second out of eight teams, with 73 points. Other schools competing included Wabash (1st, 105 points), Northwestern and Peru (tied for 3rd, 69 points), RJ Baskett (5th, 65 points), Southern Wells (6th, 46 points), Rochester (7th, 44 points), and Maconaquah (8th, 23 points).

For the Southwood eighth grade boys, Jacob Beachler placed first in the 100 m dash (12.1). He placed second in the 200 m dash (24.9). Owen Enyeart placed second in the 400 m dash (59.1). In the 800 m run, Cooper Drake placed second (2:27.8). The 4×400 team of Cooper Drake, Owen Enyeart, Keaton Frieden, and DaVon Osborn finished first (4:19.7). Jacob Beachler finished third in long jump (16′).

For the seventh graders, Blake Henderson finished third in the 400 m dash (1:10.1). James Unger placed second in the 800 m run (2:46.3). He also placed second in the 1600 m run (5:50.7). Josiah Chellis placed third in the 110 m hurdles (20.3). The 4×400 team of Josiah Chellis, Blake Henderson, James Unger, and Blake Enyeart placed second (4:52.3). Blake Enyeart placed third in long jump (12′).

Both seventh and eighth grade girls teams finished second out of eight teams. The 8th grade team scored 80 points. Maconaquah won the event with 113 points, Rochester finished third with 67 points, Wabash came in fourth with 56 points, Southern Wells placed fifth with 48 points, Peru came in sixth with 46 points, RJ Baskett finished seventh with 35 points, and Northwestern placed eighth with 31 points. Winning the 7th grade meet was Northwestern with 80 points, Maconaquah finished third with 72 points, Wabash came in fourth with 57 points, Rochester placed fifth with 52 points, Southern Wells finished sixth with 50 points, Peru came in seventh with 35 points, and RJ Baskett placed eighth with 28 points.

Eighth grade girls placing in individual events included Isabelle Ashba in the 100 m dash (1st place, 14.5), 200 m dash (1st, 30.4), and 100 m hurdles (1st, 20.4). Hailey Collins finished 3rd in the 400 m dash (1:13.9) and 1st in long jump (13′ 2″). Alexis Lopez finished 2nd in the 200 m hurdles (36.6). The 4×100 m relay team of Hailey Collins, Isabelle Ashba, Mylah Dillon, and Alexis Lopez finished 1st (58.1). Mylah Dillon finished 4th in high jump (4′). Danika Holbrook finished 2nd in long jump (12′ 11″). Naomi Davis finished 6th in shot put (17′ 4″).

Seventh grade girls placing in individual events included Lola Winer in the 100 m dash (5th place, 15.0) and long jump (5th place, 11′ 10″). In the 200 m dash, Presley Kroft placed 2nd (31.6) and Elin Tyson placed 7th (33.6). In the 400 m dash, Presley Kroft placed 2nd (1:09.4) and Lola Winer placed 3rd (1:10.9). In the 800 m run, Shelby Thomas placed 1st (2:51.5) and Olivia Ranck placed 5th (3:03.8). In the 1600 m run, Shelby Thomas placed 1st (6:08.4) and Paige Nelson placed 2nd (6:12). The 4×100 m relay team of Allie Collins, Rowyn Mealy, Elin Tyson, and Paige Nelson placed 6th (1:04.9). The 4×400 m relay team of Lola Winer, Shelby Thomas, Presley Kroft, and Elin Tyson placed 2nd (5:04). Alyvia Frieden placed 5th in shot put (15′ 10″).

The Wabash 6th & 7th grade girls finished fourth.

First place finishers were:

Shailynn Harrison, Paige Miller, Quinn Myers, & Averie Turner – 1600 Meter Relay

Quinn Myers – 400 Meter Run

Second place finishers were:

Josie Bailey, Carlee Honeycutt, Paige Miller, & Mallory Tart – 400 Meter Relay

Third-place finishers were:

Averie Turner – 800 Meter Run

The Wabash 8th grade girls finished fourth.

The 8th Grade girls 1600 Meter Relay team and Ava Bishir brought home top-placing finishes and many individuals set personal records.

First place finishers were:

Bridget Bailey, Haylee Friend, Caleigh Mignery, & Logan Wright 1600 Meter Relay

Third place finishers were:

Ava Bishir – High Jump

The Wabash 6th/7th grade boys finished first

First place finishers were:

Preston Cantrell, Jaythan French, Jarrett McWhirt, & Luis Trejo – 400 Meter Relay

Ezra Church – 800 Meter Run & 1600 Meter Run

Ezra Church, Preston Cantrell, Carson Young, & Luis Trejo – 1600 Meter Relay

Luis Trejo – 200 Meter Low Hurdles

Second place finishers were:

Karson McKenzie – 400 Meter Dash

Preston Cantrell – 110 Meter Hurdles

Carson Young – Long Jump

The Wabash 8th grade boys finished fifth.

First place finishers were:

Second place finishers were:
