Manchester Volleyball Opens With Win Over Peru
The Manchester High School Varsity Volleyball Team opened their season with a hard fought conference win against the visiting Peru Tigers.
Struggling out of the gate, the Squires lost the first set 21-25. The scrappy Squires battled their way back to even the match at one set a piece by winning the second set with a score of 25-21.
A back and forth 3rd set was capped off with some timely serving from Olivia Neal and Marley Bellinger, with the Squires managing to pull of a 25-23 win.
Manchester held off a couple surges from the Tigers in the 4th set, but were able to cruise to a 25-15 win in the 4th and final set.
Olivia Davis led the Squires with 13 kills, followed by Olivia Neal with 9. Aliala Atienza and Paxton Baker both had double digit digs with 14 and 10 respectively. A balanced setting effort was led by Hadley West with 8 assists, Olivia Neal with 7, Peyton Ream with 4, and Gracie Lauer with 3.
The Squires will be in action again on Thursday when they travel to Oak Hill for a game with the Lady Golden Eagles.
