Wabash Girls Soccer Opens With Win At Valley

The Wabash Lady Apaches opened up their season with a conference win over Tippecanoe Valley with a score of 2-1 Thursday.

Wabash had a stong showing offensively with sophomore Kait Honeycutt, senior Libby Mattern and junior Kiana Jones locking down the center of field and distributing very well to our midfield and forwards, freshman Logan Wright provided great opportunies from the wing. Kinana Jones also provided fantastic service the entire game on free kick and corner kick opportunities. Junior Natalie Adams did an incredible job of keeping the offensive pressure on the entire game with senior Rylee Yoakum breaking down the defense and creating lots of quality opportunities.

Both goals scored by Rylee Yoakum and both assissted by senior Libby Mattern. Shots on goal tonight by Rylee Yoakum, junior Maddie VonUhl, Kiana Jones, Kait Honeycutt, junior Irma Robles and Natalie Adams. Senior Hannah Layne played a fantastic game in goal with 6 saves on the night with great defensive help from freshman Jaycee Jones, senior Abbie Boggs.

The Lady Apaches continue conference play Saturday at Maconaquah at 10am.
