Results from Peru for Thursday, September 1st

The Tigers rebounded in a big way with a win over Taylor in their home opener at Rock Hollow. The team score of 229 was a 26 stroke improvement from the night before. Peru was led by Kara Baker with 43, earning her medalist honors. Other counting scores were Lainey Wouster with 60, Madi Nero with 61, and Raina Nero with 65. Rounding out the scoring were Tessa Holland and Annie Dolly each with 67, Bailee Beattie and Maddie Caldwell each with 69, and Brooklyn Weller and Kelsey Guyer each with 70. The Tigers head to Culver Academy on Saturday for the CGA Invite.

The Tigers continued the defense of their TRC crown with a 4-1 win against Rochester on Thursday.

Peru’s Ian Potts posted a strong outing at #1 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 victory while Ben Beckman took the #2 singles spot 6-1, 6-2. Gavin Eldridge completed the singles sweep at #3 singles with a 6-0, 6-1 win.

The #2 doubles team of Jacob Boswell and Jayleb Walsh picked up a 6-1, 6-2 win for the Tigers, while the #1 doubles team of Lucas Slagel and Jackson Boswell suffered the only defeat of the night for the Tigers.

With the win, the Tigers move to 12-0 on the season and 3-0 in the TRC.

JV Lady Tigers fell in a hard fight against Rochester last night in 3 sets, 14-25, 25-19, 11-15. Sophomores Rilei Boggs, Ila Johnson, and Kirsten Briley each contributed 5 service points. Johnson also had 7 kills on the night with Boggs helping with 5.

Varsity came out strong but couldn’t hold the Zebras falling in 4 sets, 25-22, 19-25, 23-25, 19-25. Senior Caitlyn Miller led the Tigers by smashing 15 kills and Junior Shelby Renn getting 11 kills on the night. Junior Kenzie Burton led the team with 14 service points and 2 aces and Senior Maddie Nordman with 11 points and 2 aces. After a much needed weekend of rest, the Tigers will regroup and come back to action on Tuesday facing TRC opponent Whitko with JV starting at 6:00pm.

Varsity Soccer ties at Taylor 1-1. Lady Tigers had a great game at Taylor Wednesday night under the lights. Nine shots on goal from Karissa (5), Brianna (1) and Cameryn (1). Tiger’s were able to keep the ball on Titan’s half majority of the game from the help of our defense. We passed well and pressured the goal like we have been practicing. It was a great game to see. Tigers play again, Tuesday, Sept 6th at Home.
