Manchester Tennis Eighth At West Noble
The Manchester boys tennis team finished eighth at the West Noble Invitational Saturday, Sept. 3.
Huntington North won the 8-team tournament, followed by West Noble, Bremen, Bluffton, Lakeland, Adams Central, Central Noble, and Manchester.
At No. 1 singles, Peyton Jones lost to West Noble 6-1, 6-1, and Carter Wilkinson from Central Noble before defeating Lakeland 8-3 to finish seventh.
Josh Steely finished sixth at No. 2 singles. The junior lost to West Noble 6-0, 6-0, then won a marathon match over Central Noble, 5-7, 6-0, (23-21), and lost to Adams Central 8-3.
At No. 3 singles, Connor Trump placed seventh. The sophomore lost to Adams Central 6-1, 6-1 in his first match, then rebounded with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Bluffton 6-2, 6-4, and lost to Huntington North 8-3.
The No. 1 doubles team of Cole Henderson and Sammie Lambert finished seventh. They lost their opening round match to Huntington North 6-1, 6-1 then fell to Bremen 6-2, 6-1, but won the 7th place match, 8-6.
The No. 2 doubles team of Owen Harshman and A.J. Weaver lost to Bluffton 6-2, 6-0, West Noble 6-0, 6-3, and Bremen 8-1.
The Squires travel to Rochester on Tuesday and Whitko on Thursday for two TRC matches.
