Apache XC Runs At Terra Haute

The Wabash cross country teams ran in the T H Savings Bank Invitational at Indiana State University Saturday.

The junior high girls stepped up to the line with 5 other complete teams, 62 runners in all and won the race.

Coming in first for the team was 8th grader Josie Bailey who also came home with a first place win under her belt. Josie ran a time of 14:07. Following Bailey was 8th grader, Chloe Cooper, running in to take 2nd place and running a time of 14:10. Right behind Cooper was another 8th grader, Mallory Tart. Tart finished close behind in 3rd place and ran a time of 14:16. Coming in next for the team was one of our 8th graders, Rinka Higuera in a time of 15:36 and coming in 10th. Right behind Higuera was Jersey Montgomery, a new 5th grader. Montgomery took 11th place and ran a time of 15:43 in her season opening race. Next was 5th grader, Sutton Stoffel, in a new PR time of 15:57 and taking 12th place overall. Right behind her was Briar Stoffel in 15th place and racing a time of 16:31. Next for the team was Quinn Myers, racing in at a time of 16:37 with a season PR and placing 17th overall. Behind Quinn was Sienna Stoffel, a 6th grader, in her season debut run. Sienna ran a 17:01 time and took 21st overall. Following behind her was 8th grader Mia Fairchild. Fairchild ran a 17:06 and she took 23rd place. Right behind Mia came another 5th grader, Charlotte Spring. Charlotte ran a time of 17:21 and came in 26th place. Not for the team was Audri Shidler, an 8th grader. Audri ran a season PR of 18:12 and taking 34th place. Next up was Emma Cantrell. Emma push through the and scored herself a new PR time of 18:25 while taking 35th place. Caitlyn Shidler, our 7th grader, came in 39th place. Shidler ran a 18:44 to seal her placement. Allayna Renn, a 6th grader followed Shidler for the race, coming in 43rd place and running a time of 19:09. Kylie Mickelson, a 5th grader, came in 44th place with a time of 19:19 behind Renn. Following Mickelson was our 8th grader, Cora Moorefield, running a time of 20:52 and taking home 50th place.

The middle school boys cross country team finished 4th out of 9 teams at the Terre Haute State Preview meet held at LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course Saturday.

Ezra Church continued his stellar 8th grade campaign with a 2nd place finish in a field of 93 runners. First year runner Luis Trejo continued to impress with a 6th place finish. Veteran runner Kamden Oswalt turned in a 16th place finish. Beckett Shaw, Landen Fisher, and 5th grader Alex Perkins were all close finishing 46th, 50th, and 57th places. Demetri Shull finished in 82nd place and Mason Tart in 83rd.

The lady Apaches raced in the 1a-3a race first thing in the morning to start the day of races. 12 teams set off, with the Apaches mixed in the middle of the pack.

First for the HS lady Apaches was our junior, Calisen Kugler, in 17th place with a time of 23:48 hitting a season PR. Following Kugler was freshman, Haylee Friend. Friend finish in 28th place with a time of 24:56. Ivy Beamer, our team sophomore, raced to the finish in 40th place and running 25:56. Following Beamer was freshman Ava Bishir coming in at 26:42 and holding 47th place. Next for the team was Irma Robles in her season opening race in a time of 27:15 in 53rd place. Following close to Robles was Grace La Mar, the senior, with a time of 27:45. La Mar crossed the line in 58th place. Maya Howard, another freshman this season, came in at 27:52 in 60th place overall and rounding out the team.

The boy cross country team traveled to Terre Haute for the State Preview Meet Saturday placing 9th out of 19 teams.

Dave Ford led the way with a 42nd place finish. Jonas Church was not far behind in 57th place. Kaden Vogel finished in 74th, Brett Shull 92nd, Isaiah Cordes 96th, Kasen Oswalt 103rd, Chase Howard 121st, Kristian Stanton 166th, Matthew Niles 187th, and Maverick Sommers in 189th.
