The Death Valley Football team picked up their third win of the season against TRC foe Peru.
The Tigers came out swinging early as they returned the opening kickoff 78 yards for the score. But their momentum was short lived as the Vikings put up 41 unanswered points from their. Wade Jones scored on a 10 yard run on Valley’s first drive. Ten seconds later, Freshman Grady Moriarty scooped up a fumble on the kickoff and took it to the house with fellow Freshman Gage Overby following up with the extra point to make it 13-7 with 8:30 to go in the 1st. On the next drive, Wade Jones was able to find his way back to the endzone on a 7 yard run. Junior Cody Eastgate connected with Junior Nate Parker for the 2pt. Eastgate would find Parker again on an 80 yard touchdown pass Overby putting it through the uprights to give the Vikings a 28-7 lead at the end of the 1st.
With 1 minute remaining in the 2nd, Senior Karl Parker was able to cross the goal line on a 1 yard carry with Overby connecting the extra point.
The second half Junior Nate Engstrand rushing into the endzone on a 20 yard run to make it 41-7 going into the 4th.
Peru scored twice in the 4th quarter but their efforts were not enough as the final score stayed in favor of the Vikings, 41-22.
Valley racked up 410 total offense with 251 yards on the ground and 159 yards through the air. Nate Parker led the team with 70 yards rushing and 80 yards receiving. Cody Eastgate threw for 159 yards and 1 TD. Wade Jones carried the ball for 39 yards and had 57 yards receiving.
The Wrecking Crew Defence once again controlled the line of scrimmage. The defence only allowed 90 total offensive yards. The Tigers had 94 yards through the air and -4 on the ground. Peru was only able to convert on 3rd down on 3 out of 15 occasions.
The Vikings will look to remain undefeated next week as they travel to Manchester on Friday with a 7:00 kickoff.
