Results from Oak Hill for Friday, January 6th

The Golden Eagles came back from 10 down early in the 3rd quarter to claim the 53-48 victory over a Peru Tigers team that came in ranked 5th in the state with an 8-1 record. The Eagles went to some full court pressure in the 2nd half of the third quarter and came up with some big points as they turned over Peru during the stretch and two big three pointers by Matthew Strange during that time, and we claimed the lead 44-41 going into the 4th quarter. After a total of 34 points scored in the third between the two teams, there were only 16 points scored total in the 4th as the defensive effort tightened up by both teams. Caleb Kroll and Landon Biegel hit two big free throws each in the last minute to seal the deal. Biegel came up huge in the 2nd half scoring 12 of his game high 17. Kroll helped out in the scoring column scoring 7 of his 13 in the first quarter. Fagan scored 9 of his 13 in the first half. Rounding out the scoring was Matthew Strange with 6, and Colin Middlesworth and Grant Elzinga with 2 each. That runs our record to 9-1, and we turn around and host Eastern tomorrow night with a 6pm JV start.

When the smoke cleared, it was the Lady Eagles with the lead as time expired. This was an exciting hard fought game by both teams. The difference in the game was the Lady Eagles ability to convert at the free throw line. Oak Hill was 7-12 at the line compared to Western going 2-13 from the line. The game was sealed when Ryleigh Myers went to the foul line with 10.2 seconds on the clock and turned a two point lead into a two possession game with 2 made free throws. Leaders were: Sydney Leal 8 points 5 rebounds, Ryleigh Myers 6 points 2 rebounds and 2 steals. Brooklyn Young 3 points 2 rebounds and two steals. Brianna Dailey had 2 points 8 rebounds 8 steals and 3 blocks. The Lady Eagles will be back in action Monday 1/9 as they travel to Peru.
