North Miami High School Boys Varsity Basketball falls to Southern Wells High School 74-56

This past Tuesday, the North Miami boys’ basketball teams traveled to Southern Wells for their second-to-last road game of the season. With over an hour drive, the Warriors had some time to mentally prepare for the game and focus on getting their second win of the season. JV started and ended as a battle between the Warriors and Raiders, and the game even went into overtime!

The lead for either team was no greater than 7 and it was hard to determine who would come out on top in this battle. Luckily for the Warriors, Braxtyn Rader was able to get a three pointer to fall at the buzzer and lift the Warriors to a 57-56 win. The scoring was led by the freshmen of the team with Ryan Smith having 13 points and 9 rebounds, followed by Lake Musall and Kale Deardorff scoring 12 apiece. Varsity looked to carry over the momentum of a great win into their game against the Raiders. After a close first half and a 5-point deficit, the Warriors looked to be in good shape. But after a rough defensive second half and turnovers playing a big part, the Warriors couldn’t grab the lead. The final score was 56-74 and the struggles for varsity still seem to continue.

Landen Hunt once again led with 17 points, followed by 14 apiece from Jake Riley and Brayden Binnion (season high). The Warriors have one final road trip to face when they travel to South Newton, another hour’s drive. The JV start time will be 12pm eastern time, but 11 central, since they will be in a new time zone.
