Apaches Out Last Peru In Overtime

The Wabash Apaches won a thriller Friday, defeating Peru 82-74 in overtime.

The Apaches got off to a hot start which included a four point play from Izaak Wright to lead 15-8 after the first stop. Dave Ford chipped in two buckets in the quarter.

Up 18-13 in the second Trevor Daughtry and Grant Ford would hit from deep as the Wabash lead grew to 29-13. Wabash led 36-23 at the half.

Wright and Daughtry would do most of the scoring in the third with Kolton Wilson chipping in a bucket. The Apaches led 50-37 after three.

Peru would come out in the fourth adding heavy pressure and causing turnovers to cut the Wabash lead to 55-54 with 3:00 to play. The Tigers then took a 58-57 lead with 2:00 left before Daughtry tied the score with a free throw with 1:37 to play. Peru would score the next four points to grab a 62-58 lead. With the Tigers up 64-61 Daughtry would drain a three to tie the score with 17.4 left and hold the Tigers off to force overtime.

Dave Ford would convert a three point play to start the OT. Up 70-66 after two Wright free throws Peru would come back to tie the score. Daughtry would hit from deep again to make it 73-70. Up 75-74 Kaden Vogel made one free throw with 29.6 remaining. The Apaches defense held and was followed by another Dave Ford bucket to make it 78-74 before a foul and a tech was called on Peru, giving the Apaches four free throws and the ball. Wright would hit two of the four free throws and then hit two more to secure the 82-74 win.
