The Southwood Knights defeated Bluffton 83-54 Friday.

As the regular season comes to an end, the four senior Knights went out with a bang! All five starters scored in double figures lead by Cole Winer’s 22 pts, where he scored in only the first and third quarters.

The Knights took a 19-12 lead after the first quarter. Cole Winer burried three 3pt field goals in the quarter along with a pair of free throws to score 11 pts in the opening quarter.

The Knights held a 32-23 lead at the half, but the real fun came in the second half when the Knights offensive explosion occurred. Cole Winer once again lead the third quarter scoring with another 11 pts. The Knights outscored the Bluffton Tigers 24-15 in the third to take a 56-38 lead into the final quarter.

The fourth quarter the Knights continued their hot shooting scoring 27 pts in the quarter on 13/19 shooting. Nathan Lehner lead the fourth with eight points, but the crowd was awakened and brought to their feet when Will Winer had a steal at half court and threw down a surprising dunk. Will then almost followed that up instantly when a steal lead to him attacking the basket again. This time he was fouled on his made field goal.

Freshman Bryce Wilcox lead the Knights with nine rebounds. Jason Oprisek lead with six assists and Nathan Lehner lead with six steals.

The Knights tied their season high, with shooting 59% for the game. Southwood also had 20 steals that lead to 30 points.

This was the third straight win for the Southwood Knights who stand at 10-12 and finished the Three River Conference season tied for fifth with a 5-4 conference record.

The Knights begin the State tournament Friday when they host the Northfield Norsemen in the Sectional Semi Finals at 6pm. This will be the first time in score history Southwood will host a Boys Sectional Championship.
