The 8th Grade Lady Squires were in the Final Four of the RRC Tournament today at Wabash High School. In the first game, they took to the court against the Rochester Zebras. The Zebras came out swinging and jumped out to a 7-1 lead, but the Lady Squires fought back to tie the game at the end of the 1st quarter. The Squires outscored the Zebras in each of the next 3 quarters to win by 10 points with final score of 44-34. Ava Sautter and Emma Walker each scored 19 points to lead the Squires. Ava-Marie Simcoe hit two key jumpers in the 4th quarter to give her 4 points and Allie Egolf had two big free throws for 2 points.

In the championship game, the Squires faced off against Maconaquah, which came into the game undefeated. The Lady Squires were able to break MAC’s full court preasure without much issue, but had untimely turnovers in the half court limiting scoring opportunities. The Squires went into halftime down 10 points, but continued to fight throughout the second half. Maconaquah proved to be too much in the end, but the girls played with much grit and courage. Emma Walker led the team with 15 points, Ava Sautter with 11 points, and Ava-Marie Simcoe with 5 points.

Katelynn Leckrone, Ashely Angle, and Ariah Dillon round out the 7 girl team, which became a true team this year.

The 8th Grade Lady Squires finished the season with 18 wins and 2 losses.
