Oak Hill High School Varsity Baseball beat Woodlan Jr-Sr High School 7-2

The Golden Eagles overcome a slow start to defeat Woodland 7-2. Emmett Dorothy gets the win on the mound going 5 innings, giving up 2 runs on 2 hits and striking out 5. Mason Dubois finishes the game with 2 scoreless innings allowing only 1 hit and striking out 3.

Jake Rose (1-3, 2B, SB, RBI), Ryan Lawson (1-2, 2B, R), Matthew O’Banion (1-3, 2B, RBI) and Drew Wagner (1-3, 3B, 2 RBI, HP) all had extra base hits tonight.

Oak Hill High School Boys Varsity Track finishes 1st place at Maconaquah High School

The OHTF Golden Eagle Men started off the 2023 Outdoor season with a 88-44 win over a talented Maconaquah team.

In all the Golden Eagles won 11 of 16 events including all 3 relays, swept the Top 3 spots in both the 800 Meter Run and Shot Put, and scored at least 2 individuals in all but 3 events.

Junior Owen Jackson had a great start to the season as he took home 4 1st place ribbons. Jackson anchored the 1st place 4×800 Meter Relay, took 1st in both the 1600 Meter Run and 800 Meter Run individually, as well as another relay 1st as part of the 4×400 Meter Relay. Joining Jackson on the 4×8 were classmates Trenton Sweet and Toby Sneed along with Sophomore Lance Wyrick. Sweet took 2nd to Jackson in the 1600 Meter Run while setting a new lifetime best in the event while adding an individual 1st of his own in the 3200 Meter Run, another lifetime best. Sneed, who also set a personal record, took 2nd to Sweet in that event. Senior Golden Eagle Landon Biegel took 2nd to Jackson in the 800 Meter Run while joining him on the 4×4 along with classmate Lucas Hasty and Junior Levi Trexler. Biegel took individual 1st in the High Jump while Hasty a 3 event winner captured the 110 Meter Hurdles and was part of the 1st place 4×100 Meter Relay team. Hasty who also took a 2nd in the 300 Meter Hurdles was joined on the 1st place sprint relay by classmates Kyle Turanchick, Caleb Kroll, and Grant Elzinga.

Junior Golden Eagle Tai Johnson was also a double event winner on the night as he swept the throws – Shot Put and Discus. Senior Silas Jones took 2nd to Johnson in the Shot Put. Junior newcomer Nate Brower who recently finished 10th at the Indoor State Finals won the Pole Vault.

The Golden Eagles are back in action again next Tuesday April 11th in a triangular meet at Frankton against host Frankton and Sheridan. They then host the annual Oak Hill Relays next Saturday April 15th.

Oak Hill High School Girls Varsity Track finishes 1st place at Maconaquah High School

The OHTF Lady Eagles opened the 2023 Outdoor Season with a tough hard fought dual meet win over a very talented and deep Maconaquah team 74-58.

In all the Lady Eagles won only 5 of 16 events but in 4 of those 5 events swept at least the 1st 2 or 3 spots. Junior Lady Eagle Leah Highley led the way easily winning all 3 of her events. Highley won both the 200 and 400 Meter Dashes while also anchoring the 4×400 Meter Relay team. Joining Highley on the 1st place relay were Freshman Lexi Nuber and Addison Carey along with Sophomore Ellie Campbell. Campbell took 2nd to Highley in both the 200 and 400 Meter sprints but popped a huge lifetime best in the Long Jump to take an individual 1st. Senior Brianna Brown also posted a lifetime best jump to finish 2nd in the event. Junior Ruth Tripp took 1st in the High Jump with Sophomore Janey Van Dyke taking 2nd. Senior Kate Thompson took 1st in the 100 Meter Hurdles with Freshman Amelia McClain taking 2nd. McClain was also a Runner Up in the Pole Vault.

Junior Evelin Perez and Sophomore Cail Bowlin took 3rd behind Highley and Campbell in the 400 and 200 for the clean 1-2-3 sweeps. Freshman Biruk Travis collected 3 2nds on the night running tough in the 1600 Meter Run, 3200 Meter Run, and as part of the 4×800 Meter relay. Joining her on the relay was classmate Sophia Rowland along with Juniors Audrey Woodard and Abby Sneed. Sneed also took 2nd place in the 800 Meter Run. Senior Lauren Rex took a pair of 2nds as well in the throwing events – Shot Put and Discus.

The Lady Eagles are back in action again next Tuesday April 11th at Frankton in a triangular meet with Sheridan. They also host the annual Oak Hill Relays next Saturday April 15th.

Oak Hill High School Varsity Softball falls to Eastern Jr/Sr High School 13-5

While the score does not look good it was a rough 7th inning that widened the gap in the score. The players continued to battle all game. The big highlight was Maxy Pitman’s first varsity home run!!
