Boys Varsity Baseball falls to Whitko 4 – 1

Maconaquah Braves Varsity fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 4-1 loss to Whitko on Thursday.

Maconaquah Braves Varsity lost despite out-hitting Whitko eight to three.

Brandon Smitley toed the rubber for Maconaquah Braves Varsity. The righty lasted three innings, allowing two hits and two runs while striking out two. MJ Ellis threw three innings in relief.

Smitley went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Maconaquah Braves Varsity in hits. Bennett Isenburg had two hits and an RBI.

Trace Armstrong, Ellis, Jackson Collins, and Klaytin Kile all had hits for the Braves as well. Ellis took 2nd on a pass ball and then took 3rd on a wild pitch. Isenburg then drove a single to center to plate the only run of the day for the Braves.

Maconaquah is back in action on Monday at home vs Tippy Valley.

Maconaquah Boys Varsity Golf falls to Southwood

The Maconaquah boys varsity golf traveled to Etna Acres to face Southwood in a dual golf match on a gotgeous Thursday evening but fell short 191 to 201.

Leading the Braves were Lane Brehmer and Cody Miller, both firing rounds of 49. They were followed by Ayden Jernagan and Billy Guinan at 51 and 52 respectively. Southwood’s #1 had the top round for the event firing a 35.

Others competing were Ryan Ousley (50), Camron Metcalf (54), Jakob Grant (61), Joe Butcher III (63), Eli Price (68), Carsten Hollars and Kyle Bockover (69).

The Braves are back on the tee box Friday at Honeywell vs Wabash and North Field with a 5:00 start.
