Norse Golf Defeats Southwood/North Miami

Northfield Boys Golf traveled to Peru Muni Thursday to take on Southwood and North Miami.

The Norse came out on top but a tight finish between the Southwood Knights resulted in a score of 169-171. North Miami would shoot 202 as a team to finish 3rd.

There was a three way tie at the top for medalist between Northfield’s Cash Cartwright and Easton Shaw, along with Southwood’s Luke Watson all finishing with an even 40 through nine. Tyson Baer followed with a 42 and Dylan Ross coming in with a 47 to give the Norse a 2 shot cushion.

Tristan Hoffman, Gavin Brainard, and Ryder Schram would all card 49’s for the Norsemen. Luke Haupert finished next in line with a 55, followed by Luke Haupert’s 56. Hank Gray would clean it up with a 60 to put on the finishing touches.

The Norse are now 15-1 on the year and remain undefeated in the TRC Conference regular season, as well as the 18-hole Tournament. They will travel to Rock Hollow for the Peru Invitational on Saturday as they look to compete in a heavy field of 21 schools.

Luke Watson was in a 3-way tie for match medalist honors, but was team medalist with a 40, followed by Keaton Metzger 41, Griffin Chambers 43, Ian Vanderpool 47 and Jordan Trisler 52.

The JV players of Eli Boone shot 54, Gabe Mealy 57, Ryan McGouldrick 62, and Brian Hall 69.

The Southwood JV lost to Northfield 242 – 202.
