The Wabash Lady Apaches cross country team competed in their season opening race at the Jacob Graf Memorial Invite at Logansport on Saturday morning.
The girls toed the line is a group of five, with a the chance to earn some of their first varsity points for a few of our freshmen. The girls toed the line 113 athletes total, and 16 complete teams.
First for the lady Apaches was junior, Ivy Beamer, running in with a time of 24:49 and taking 54th place overall. Following Beamer was freshman, Mallory Tart, coming in 58th place overall with a career time of 25:02. Haylee Friend, the sophomore of our running crew, raced to the finish in 60th place and running a time of 25:12. Coming in after Friend was Irma Robles, a senior, coming off an injury with a time of 26:47 and placing 78th. Rounding out the group was a freshman, Rinka Higuera, with a career setting time of 27:15. Higuera finished in 86th place.
With these five ladies, the Apaches were able to pull out a 13th place finish. The lady Apaches will be at it again next weekend with a new-to-us meet at Wapahani high school.
