Middle School Girls at Mississinewa The MS Lady Apaches competed in their 2023 season opener at the Mississinewa Invitational Saturday morning. Last years 8th grade crew took team numbers down as they moved up, but they did not take the middle school Apaches fighting spirit! Our young Apaches took on their first race with tenacity and started their season off strong. With half of the team hitting or getting close to their PRs, it speaks volumes of the type of heart these girls raced with under the perfect weather conditions. Once all of our new runners are ready to compete, I can only imagine what they will do the rest of the season! Coming in first for the running Apache crew was our 6th grader, Teresina Cordes, running a career PR time of 13:19 and taking 4th place overall. Coming in 8th place was another 6th grader, Sutton Stoffel, running in with her career PR of 14:05. Next into the shoot for the team was 6th grader Kylie Mickelson. Mickelson ran a time of 16:21, closing in on her career PR from last season and finishing up in 16th place. Next was Kinslee McBride, a 6th grader, running in 18th place with a time of 16:37. Following closely behind McBride was Briar Stoffel, another 6th grader. Briar completed her first 2023 race in 19th place with a 16:38 time. Next for the Apache crew was Emma Cantrell, a 7th grader, running a time of 18:02 and finishing in 22nd place. Rounding out the team was our newcomer, Camille Coffman, a 6th grader, running a 19:20 and taking 24th place overall. There were 24 athletes total in the race. The girls placed 3rd as a team. Our middle school Apaches kicked off their season, strong! With it being only the beginning, you’ll want to catch these girls in action throughout the season as they are sure to continue to impress! Girls will be competing again next week at North Miami on Tuesday.

The Wabash Middle School Boys cross country team ran their first meet of the season Saturday at Mississinewa coming in 2nd place.
