Prior to the game Senior Kicker Fox Huppenthal was honored as Peru’s Scholar Athlete.

The Tigers started the scoring midway through the first quarter when Senior quarterback Matthew Roettger rushed 10 yards for a touchdown, Huppenthal was successful on the PAT. Logan tied the game shortly afterward with a 61-yard touchdown pass. Late in the quarter, Roettger hit Senior Isaac Beam for an 11-yard touchdown pass, Junior Landen Crowe with the PAT. The quarter ended with the Tigers leading 14-7.

The Berries scored seconds into the second quarter with a 24-yard run and kick to tie the game at 14. The ensuing Tiger drive stalled with a fumble at the Logansport 3-yard line. An impressive defensive stand set up Sophomore Isaiah Korba’s 37-yard punt return for a touchdown, Senior Hayden Oldaker with the PAT. The Tigers tacked on another score with less than a minute remaining on a 19-yard touchdown run by Junior Tanner Boggs, Huppenthal with the PAT, to put the Tigers up 28-14. Roettger closed the half by intercepting a Logansport pass as the clock expired.

Peru opened the second half with the ball, but the drive stalled on a fumble. Logan drove deep into Peru territory, but a huge sack by Senior Alex Ross on 4th down, caused the Berries to turn the ball over. A minute and a half later Ross scampered 53 yards for another touchdown, Crowe with the PAT, to widen the lead 35-14. Shortly later Logan scored on a 2-yard run to pull within 15. The Tigers answered 20 seconds later with a Roettger 68-yard pass to Senior Lucas Boggs, Oldaker with the PAT, to push the lead out 42-20.

Logansport closed out the scoring with about 2 minutes to go on a 24-yard run and converted the 2-point chance to bring the score to 42-28. Peru recovered the ensuing onside kick and was about to run out the clock.

Roettger was selected by the journalists and media members there as the game MVP as part of the rivalry series festivites. Peru reclaimed the Dan Baldini Trophy, and Coach Mak picked up his first win as Peru’s Head Coach.

Peru’s offensive line set the tone early and the Tigers imposed their will from the opening kick, with several bright spots all over the field.

The Tigers are back in action next Friday night at 7pm at Bengal Memorial Stadium in the home opener against conference opponent Whitko.
