Field of Dreams Host Northfield XC Invite

The Northfield, Manchester and Southwood cross country teams ran in the Northfield Invite Saturday at the Field of Dreams.

The Lady Norse Middle School Cross Country team took 4 of the top 5 places Saturday morning to earn their 3rd straight Northfield Invitational championship.

Kaleigh Rice remains undefeated on the season winning the individual championship to lead the Norse. Teagan Baer (3rd), Ali Copeland (4th), Addie Hawkens (5th) and Andrea Widemon (15th) completed the scoring for the Norse.

Izzy See (21st) ran a lifetime best and Haylee Bucher (22nd) complete the team.

For the 2nd week in a row the Northfield Boys Middle School Cross Country team wins the team championship. This time at their own invitational at the Field of Dreams in Wabash on Saturday.

Placing 4 in the top 10 and 5 in the top 15, the Norsemen ran away from the competition. Bode Sorg (2nd), Preston Moore (3rd), Nate Hodson (6th), Hudson Haupert (7th) and Gavin Lester (15th) led the Norse in scoring. Bentley Sutterby (25th) and Maesyn Jones (26th) completed the team.

Hodson turned in a lifetime best performance for the 2nd week in a row.

The high school boys XC team finished 2nd at the Northfield Invite Saturday at the Field of Dreams in Wabash. The Squires were led with the individual champion in Kyler Dale in a time of 17:26. Caleb Smith was 8th with a great 18:55 effort. Oliver Fitzpatrick (13th), Clark Showalter (21st), and Jet Thomas (36th) rounded out the scoring 5. Gabe Selleck ran nearly a 2 minute PR and Cam Peacock ran a consistent time.

The high school girls XC team finishes 2nd at the Northfield Invite at the Field of Dreams. The Squires were led by a 2nd place finish by Ayla Cashdollar and a 4th place finish by Ava Egolf. Rachel Steely (13th with a PR), Evyn Fox (18th), Miriam Struble-Hedstrom (23rd), Grace Penrod (25th), and Maggie Akins (32nd) rounded out the top 7. Shelby Cahill and Aisali Tynymbay ran a PR, and Kelzei Fox was the final Squire to complete the race. Complete race results can be found online at https://thtiming.com/2023raceresults.html.

Southwood scored 76 points to come in fourth. Other teams competing, but not having enough runners to score as a team, included North Miami, Tippecanoe Valley, Heritage, Whitko, and Lakeland Christian. Individually, Paige Nelson placed second in a time of 13:14.6, Ava Stouffer finished ninth in a time of 15:01.6, Ellie Simpson came in 29th in a time of 18:03.1, Ambry Strickler placed 34th in a time of 18:55.1, Rayli Pershing came in 36th in a time of 19:16.2, and Dallis Kroft finished 38th in a time of 19:42.9.

The Southwood middle school boys did not have enough runners to place as a team. Out of the six schools that did have enough runners to score as a team, Northfield placed first with 33 points, Woodlan finished second with 49 points, Lakeland Christian came in third with 71 points, Manchester placed fourth with 112 points, Tippecanoe Valley came in fifth with 116 points, and Whitko finished sixth with 118 points. Other schools participating included Heritage, North Miami, and Taylor. Riley Sutphin was the only competitor for Southwood. He finished in 19th place with a time of 14:48.4.

The Lady Knights competed at the Field of Dreams in the Northfield Invitational Saturday morning. Leading the way for the Knights was freshman, Shelby Thomas. Shelby finished 5th overall setting a new PR of 22:15.7. Jaiya Corn finished 21st and Olivia Ranck finished 30th overall in a field of 54 runners.

The Knight cross country team placed 7th in the Northfield Invitational this past weekend. Leading the way for the Knights was James Unger who placed 9th overall and set a new PR of 18:58.7. Luke Andrews finished 17th, while Landon Mitchell placed 33rd with a season best of 21:15.6. Ryan Deeter was the 4th man for the team, finishing 52nd in a field of 70 runners. Andrew Wright rounded out the scoring for the Knights, placing 54th.

Saturday Northfield hosted the Norse Invite againist 11 other teams. Madeline Moore placed 10th overall in a time of 23:59, Trinity Bever placed 16th overall running a time of 24:38. Completing the team was Mara Zolman in a time of 27:40 and Olia Leffert in a time of 31:34.

Two of our Norse placed top 20 at the Norse Invite this past weekend. Ryland Miller placed 19th in a time of 19:50 followed by Gahl in 20th in a time of 19:53. Bringing in the rest of the Norse were Kourtland Pratt in 20:39, Holten Satterthwaite in 22:53, Eli Mattern in 23:08, Xavier Roark in 23:15, Ethan Hoover in 24:40 and Ashton Aderman in 31:26.
