Lady Squires Soccer Falls In Shoot Out

The Manchester girls soccer team finished runner up in their own invite Saturday, falling in the championship game in a shootout.

The Lady Squires started strong this morning with a 5-0 victory over Western. 5 different ladies scored with goals from Broookelynn Buzzard, Campbell Bolinger, Ava Sautter, Samantha Shock, and Ava Baker. Brookelynn Buzzard and Samantha Shock also each had an assist. The defense played a great game, and Grace Smith got the shutout.

For the championship game, the ladies faced Laville and started out strong as London Spangle found the back of the net off a pass from Campbell Bolinger. The Lancers countered with a goal a few minutes later to tie the game. After a back and forth battle most of the half, Samantha Shock found the back of the net again off a pass from London Spangle. Laville had the only goal of the second half soon after halftime. The Lady Squires defense held strong the rest of the half, led by Addison Brubaker, Maggie Onderko-White, Karsyn Kamphues, Molly Schannep, and Chase Blevins. Grace Smith had 10 saves. With a 2-2 tie at the end of the game, it was decided in a PK shootout with the Laville walking away with the victory.
