Manchester Tennis Falls Short At Valley

It came down to a the wire but the Squire tennis team fell short at Tippecanoe Valley, 3-2 Monday, Aug. 28.

With the team score tied at 2-2, the No. 2 singles match between Valley’s Tristyn Ragan and Manchester’s Josh Steely went the distance with Ragan prevailing, 2-6, 6-2, 7-6 (5) to clinch the team win.

Connor Trump at No. 3 singles gave the Squires a 1-0 lead with 6-1, 6-3.

Manchester took a 2-0 lead after the No. 2 doubles team of Owen Harshman and Brendyn Mugford pulled out a 7-5, 6-3 win.

No. 1 single player Peyton Jones lost a 6-0, 6-4 decision to make the team score 2-1.

The No. 1 doubles team of Cole Henderson and Sammie Lambert battled for two sets, eventually falling, 7-5, 6-7 (7), 6-1, sending all eyes to Court No. 2 and where Steely fell two points short in the third set tie-break.

In the only JV match of the night, the doubles team of Caleb Struble-Hedstrom and Milo Hupp won, 8-0.

The Squires, now 2-2 on the season turn around Tuesday to host Bluffton with a 5 p.m. start time.
