Southwood JH Football Falls To Whitko
The Southwood junior high football team fell to Whitko 26-20 Tuesday.
In the first quarter of the Junior High football game between Southwood and Whitko, Whitko’s #3 made a successful quarterback keep, giving them an early 6-0 lead. Southwood responded strongly with a touchdown pass from B Henderson to P Lopez, followed by a successful 2-point conversion, putting Southwood in the lead at 8-6 by the end of the quarter.
The second quarter saw Whitko’s #34 break away for a significant run, putting Whitko back in the lead with a successful 2-point conversion. The Score would be 14-8 at the half
The third quarter brought a tying touchdown from Southwood’s K Valdez, though the 2-point conversion attempt fell short. The game’s momentum shifted with a fumble recovery by B Enyert for Southwood. The third quarter closed with Whitko’s #34 scoring again, making the score 20-14.
The fourth quarter began with a touchdown run from K Valdez, tying the game at 20, but Southwood was unable to convert the 2-point attempt. In the closing minutes, Whitko secured the win with another touchdown, resulting in a final score of 26-20 in their favor. Despite the outcome, Southwood exhibited determination and effort throughout the game.
Looking ahead, Southwood’s next game will be a home game against Wabash, scheduled for 5:30.
