Boys Varsity Soccer Improves to 6-1 with Win Over Tippy Valley

The Maconaquah Boys Varsity Soccer team played a phyical game against Tippy Valley at home and came away with the 1-0 win. In what was a very controlled game by the Braves, Tippy Valley would consistently drop all 11 players into the defensive third of the field in order to stop the Maconaquah attack. Maconaquah possessed the ball for nearly 70% of the 80 minutes, but clean shots were difficult to come by with that much traffic in the penalty area. The lone goal came off a corner kick which was deflected out by the goalie. Alex Hicks put back a 1 touch shot that deflected off a Tippy defender to Joe Manueles, who made 1 touch to his left foot, then buried it home. The remaining 20 minutes of the game saw a much more aggressive attack by the Vikings, but the Mac defense held strong.

This win puts the team at 6-1 with the next two games being at home. After that, the team has a long stretch of 7 away games to finish the season. Currently, the team is 2-0 in TRC play and will have games against Rochester, Manchester and Peru remaining. Next game will be vs Blackford on Thursday Sept 7th @ home. Come out to support the Braves!
