Manchester/Wabash XC Score At Manchester Invite

The Manchester and Wabash cross country teams ran in the Manchester Invite Saturday.

The Wabash High School Boys Varsity Cross Country Team traveled to the Manchester Invitational Saturday morning. The Apaches came in 2nd in the 24 team field with 80 points. Penn High School won the meet with a score of 54.

Jonas Church was the first Wabash runner to cross the line in 5th place. Kaden Vogel, Isaiah Cordes, Bobby Shull, and Ezra Church were all within 8 places of each other coming in 14th, 18th, 21st, and 22nd respectively. Chase Howard and Kasen Oswalt were also close finishing in 62nd and 66th. Maverick Sommers finished in 133rd. There were a total of 179 runners in the race. The Apaches travel to Brown County next Saturday.

In a field of 24 teams, the Manchester high school boys team finish 12th as a team.

Kyler Dale led the way finishing 13th with a career PR of 16:58. Caleb Smith was next with a career PR of 18:17. Freshman Oliver Fitzpatrick broke 19 minutes for the first time. Clark Showalter was 4th, and Jet Thomas finished 5th for the team and dropped over 30 seconds. Gabe Selleck and Cameron Peacock set PRs as well.

In a field of 25 teams, the high school girls team finished 10th.

Ayla Cashdollar led the girls in 8th place and a seaon PR. Ava Egolf was next placing 21st with a career PR of 21:06. Rachel Steely had a big improvement to PR in a time of 23:00. Seniors Evyn Fox and Miriam Struble-Hedstrom were 4th and 5th on the team both running PRs. Grace Penrod and Maggie Akins are set new season PRs. Kelzei Fox ran a new career PR of 30:23.

First for the lady Apaches was our team junior, Ivy Beamer, running in with a time of 23:46 and taking 78th place overall. Following Beamer was Haylee Friend, a sophomore, coming in 85th place overall with a time of 24:16 and leading a trio of Apaches. Next in was Mallory Tart, our first freshman, raced to the finish in 86th place and running a career PR time of 24:20. Right behind her was Calisen Kugler, our senior coming out of injury, with her first race of the season. Her time was 24:23 and placing 87th. Coming in after her was Maya Howard, a sophomore, racing in her season opener. Howard finished in 107th place and came in with a 25:30. Coming in after her was Rink Higuera, another one of our freshman. Higuera ran a career PR of 25:47 and snagged 111th place. Finishing up for the team was a (freshman) Mia Fairchild. Fairchild fought it out at the finish, truly sliding into the final stretch with a time of 26:29 and taking 123rd place.

The Wabash Middle School boys cross country team competed in the Manchester Invitational Saturday morning.

In the varsity race Kamden Oswalt came in 3rd place overall. Jacoby Amburgey came in 36th, Landen Fisher 47th, Kaden Kelsheimer 53rd, Jeffery Small 62nd, Easton Cantrell 64th, and Jaydenn Mertz 86th. There were 105 runners in the varsity race. In the junior varsity race Kalib Mabery finished in 35th running his first cross country race of his career. Aidan Young finished in 40th, Demetri Shull 43rd, Mason Tart 49th, and Finn Fairchild 55th. The middle school team will be in action next Saturday at IWU.

The Lady Apaches stuck around in Wabash County this Saturday to run at the Manchester Invitational early in the morning. With our new teammates running in the JV race first, the trio of new running Apaches did an outstanding job racing. The varsity crew ran strong as well. With 6 girls racing for the varsity team following the jv race, all of our young running Apaches did an excellent job chasing down fast times and great placements.

First was the individual results for the junior varsity trio. First to cross the line was 7th grader, Eliza Denney. Denney came in with a fast time of 14:45 and placing 12th, earning her a ribbon on her first race. Next was Harper Ellet, a 5th grader new to the running world, running in with a time of 21:15 and placing 62nd. Rounding out the trio was Addilyn McBride, another 5th grader fresh in our running family. McBride ran in with a time of 22:14 and finished in 65th place. There were 68 total runners for the combined JV race.

Coming in first for the running Apache crew in the varsity race was 6th grader, Teresina Cordes, running a career PR time of 12:23 and taking 5th place overall. Coming in 47th place was another 6th grader, Sutton Stoffel, running in with a time of 14:23. Next was Kinslee McBride, a 6th grader, running in 64th place with a career PR time of 15:31. Following closely behind McBride was Briar Stoffel, another 6th grader. Briar completed her race in 65th place with a 15:32 time. Next for the Apache crew was Emma Cantrell, a 7th grader, running a time of 16:39 and finishing in 79th place. Rounding out the team was Camille Coffman, a 6th grader, running a PR of 18:05 and taking 86th place overall. There were 91 athletes total in the race.
