OHXC Golden Eagle Battle Multiple Ranked Teams in Columbus – Winning Small School Division – Jackson, Sweet, Sneed, Tippey All Medal
The OHXC Golden Eagles traveled South Saturday to compete in the Rick Weinheimer Columbus North Classic and returned with multiple personal bests and a Division A Team Championship. The Golden Eagles totaled 51 points outdistancing 2nd place Indian Creek in the Small School Division.
The meet features 50 schools including 6 Top 23 State Ranked teams from Indiana and a State Ranked Team from Kentucky.
All athletes and teams in attendance compete in the same race with results then separated post race into 2 Divisions. Schools with an enrollment over 950 are Division AA while schools with enrollment uner 950 are Division A.
The Golden Eagles finished 8th overall behind those same 6 Indiana State Ranked Teams and school from Kentucky.
2 State Ranked Nobelsville won the Division AA race with #13 Floyd Central 2nd, #11 Columbus North 3rd, #12 Bloomington North 4th, #23 Greenfield Central 5th, #19 Perry Meridian 6th, and Kentucky’s Conner High School in 7th. The Golden Eagles efforts won them the 20+ team Division A Title. Seniors Owen Jackson and Trenton Sweet finished 18th and 19th overall respectively in 16:00 and 16:01 which was good enough for 2nd and 3rd in the Small School Division. Six of the Golden Eagle’s Varsity Top 7 set new lifetime personal bests. Sweet’s time of 16:01 moved him into a tie for 6th All Time in Program History with Evan Hiple. Classmate Toby Sneed also set a new lifetime best to earn a Top 20 Medal in 12th at 16:39 moving him into 27th All Time. Sophomore Corban Tippey became the 47th OHXC Golden Eagle All Time to break 17 minutes as he recorded a 16:56 for a 14th Place Medal. Senior AJ Austin was the 5th scorer in a lifetime best 17:37 in 27th. Sophomore Brayden Sommers 17:59 in 33rd and Freshman Kyle Brower 18:34 in 41st rounded out the Top 7.
Also competing for the Golden Eagle Varsity were Junior Owen Roth 55th and Kaleb Westgate 60th in the Division A race.
The Golden Eagles are back in action Saturday September 9th at Indiana Wesleyan as part of the Wildcat Invitional.

OHXC Lady Eagles Finish 3rd at 20+ Team Invitational in Columbus – Travis Earns Top 10 Medal
The OHXC Lady Eagles traveled South Saturday to compete in the Rick Weinheimer Columbus North Classic and returned with a handful of personal bests and a Division A Top 3 Team Finish. The Lady Eagles totaled 116 points coming in behind Champion Tell City and Runner Up Indiana Creek.
The meet features 50 schools including 3 Top 22 State Ranked teams from Indiana. #3 Ranked defending State Champion Noblesville won the overall Team Championship.
All athletes and teams in attendance compete in the same race with results then separated post race into 2 Divisions. Schools with an enrollment over 950 are Division AA while schools with enrollment uner 950 are Division A.
The Lady Eagles were lef by Sophomore Biruk Travis who posted a strong time of 20:00 to finish 23rd overall and earn a Top 20 Division A Medal in 6th Place.
Senior Leah Highley 22nd, Junior Audrey Woodard 26th, and Sophomore Sophia Rowland 33rd all had solid Top 35 Division A finishes. Junior Abby Sneed took 41st with Freshman Erika Newhouse rounding out the Varsity Top 7 in 52nd.
Also competing for the Lady Eagle Varsity Top 10 were Sophomore Kailtyn Scalf 68th, Freshman Quinn Brunner 72nd, Junior Eily Hawk 79th, and Sophomore Lydia Trexler 86th in the Division A Race. Newhouse, Scalf, Brunner, and Hawk all set new personal lifetime bests.
The Lady Eagles are back in action Saturday September 9th at Indiana Wesleyan as part of the Wildcat Invitional.
