Freshman Caleb Struble-Hedstrom had the fate the Squire boys tennis team’s match at Jimtown on his racket and the No. 3 singles player pulled out a 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 win to clinch the win for Manchester with a 3-2 victory over the Jimmies Saturday, Sept. 9.

Manchester swept the doubles matches with the No. 1 team of Cole Handerson and Connnor Trump blanking their opponents, 6-0, 6-0, while the No. 2 team of Sammie Lambert and Owen Harshman prevailed, 6-1, 6-4.

Josh Steely, playing No. 1 singles, fan into a buzzsaw, dropping a 6-1, 6-0 match.

Needing to win the two final matches, No. 2 singles player Peyton Jones also pulled out a 3-setter, 6-1, 2-6, 6-2, leading up to Struble-Hedstrom’s heroics.

In JV play, Brendyn Mugford won his singles match, 8-6, while Jose Lopez de Uralde won, 8-0. The duo also teamed up to win an 8-2 doubles match.

The Squires (6-2, 3-0 TRC) travel to Peru (6-1, 2-0) to face the Tigers in a Three Rivers Conference match on Tuesday, Sept. 12.
