Girls Golf finishes 5th at Sectional; Dyer advances to Regional as an Individual

The Tigers competed in the IHSAA Sectional at Chippendale on Friday. The team played one of their better rounds of the season, shooting a 413 and finishing in 5th place. Maconaquah was the team champion with a score of 349. Piercey Dyer tied for 1st place with a round of 74 and was beaten in a playoff by Elizabeth Mercer of Western. Other scores for Peru were Lainey Wouster with 107, Maddie Caldwell with a personal best 114, Raina Nero with 118, and Bailee Beattie with 122.

Dyer’s round earned her a spot in the Regional next Saturday at Battle Ground Golf Club. Piercey tees off at 10:44 off hole #10.

The Tigers made the trip to Whiteland High School on Saturday to contest the Whiteland Invitational. Peru went 1-2 on the day.

1 Singles Ian Potts posted a win against Jennings County and lost to University High School and Whiteland.

2 Singles Jayleb Walsh also won against Jennings County and lost to University Hospital and Whiteland.

3 Singles Jackson Rogers went 2-1 on the day with wins against Whiteland and Jennings County and a loss to University High School.

1 Doubles Jackson and Jacob Boswell went 2-1 with wins against Whiteland and Jennings County and a loss to University High School.

2 Doubles J.P. Pallante and Lucas Musser lost to University High School and Whtieland and scored a victory against Jennings County.

The Tigers are next in action on Tuesday against TRC and county rival Maconaquah.

Tigers did very well in todays match. From the start to the finish the Tigers were pressuring every ball, passing, and shooting on goal when possible. Andrew Dawalt scores off taking a corner for Peru. Peru had over 15 shots on goal in todays game.
