Manchester Girls Soccer Wins On PK’s Over Maconaquah

The Manchester girls soccer team defeated Maconaquah 2-1 Wednesday.

They possessed the ball in the midfield during the first half and got quite a few good shots. Samantha Shock found the back of the net off a corner kick from Campbell Bolinger. The Lady Squire defense was tough and kept the Lady Braves scoreless to go into halftime up 1-0. Out of halftime,

Maconaquah was able to score early, but the defense, led by Addison Brubaker, Molly Schannep, Chase Blevins, Karsyn Kamphues, and Maggie Onderko-White, was able to keep them from scoring again. Brookelynn Buzzard, Ava Sautter, and Campbell Bolinger had other good looks but couldn’t find the back of the net. The game went into overtime, but still remained tied. During the shootout, London Spangle made the first PK for the Squires, but the score remained tied as Maconaquah made their PK. Ava Baker made the second PK to put the ladies up by 1, as Grace Smith had a nice save. During round 4, the Lady Squires sealed the deal as Ava Sautter made her PK and Grace Smith had a nice save to finish the game.
