Mac Varsity Boys Soccer Beats Manchester to Secure (at least a share of) TRC Crown

The Maconaquah boys Soccer team traveled to Manchester to play their 4th game in 5 days. They boys leg’s were pretty weary going into this contest after winning the Winamac Invite on Saturday with the two games played. Manchester’s home field is tough for opposing teams as it is approximately 20 yards wider than most fields and visting teams tend to struggle with the playing surface. All those things were going against the Braves, but it didn’t matter. They came out firing at the beginning of the game.

From the opening touch, the boys possessed the ball for the first 30-45 seconds and ended it with a beautiful pass from Bennett Isenburg to Isaac Lorenz, who buried it home Then, with 14 minutes left in the first half, Lorenz was able to beat 3 defenders and the goalie for the solo goal.

In the second half, Manchester put up several shots on goal and was able to get a put back after Kaden Hanson, the Maconaquah goalie, saved the first shot, but the ball deflected to a charging Squire who scored their lone goal. The Braves defense held up the last thirty minutes of the game to seal the win.

With this win, the Braves are 13-2 on the year and 4-0 in the TRC. The last regular season match of the year will be at Peru on Wednesday 9/27/23. If the Braves fall, the TRC crown could be shared between Maconaquah and Manchester (who would also need to beat North Miami on Wednesday). This is the third TRC championship in the last four years for the Braves.

The team would love to have a big turn-out on Wednesday, so if you have been wanting to see a game, this would be a good one to attend (Wed @ 5:30 at the Peru Soccer fields behind the Roxy Theater).

Girls 6th Grade Volleyball falls to Rochester Community Middle School 2 – 0

The Lady Braves showed moments of great teamwork, but inconsistent play lead to another loss. The girls had several great volleys and hustle plays but it wasnt enough to overcome the Lady Zebras. The team was led by Whitney Barnes with 6 service points. Hayden Soldi and Alyssa Peterson each added 3. The girls are back in action tomorrow at Oak Hill.
