OHXC Lady Eagles Finish 2nd at Conference Meet – Travis, Woodard, Highley, Rowland, Newhouse Earn All Conference Honors

The OHXC Lady Eagles came within just 5 points of winning their 7th Central Conference Championship the last 8 seasons falling just short to a strong Eastbrook team 34-39. It was the 2nd straight season the Lady Eagles were the Conference Runner Up and the 16th straight season they finished either 1st or 2nd at the Conference Meet. Blackford was 3rd ith 67 points.

Sophomore Lady Eagle Biruk Travis was the individual Conference Runner Up to earn 1st Team All Conference Honors. Joining Travis on the Top 10 All Conference 1st Team were Junior Audrey Woodard and Senior Leah Highley. Woodard was 6th overall while Highley took 9th. Sophomore Sophia Rowland just missed 1st Team Honors but managed to grab Honorable Mention Honors with an 11th place finish. Grabbing All Conference Honors in her 1st CIC Meet was Freshman Erika Newhouse who took a respective 14th to earn Honorable Mention Honors as well.

Highley became just the 10th Lady Eagle in Program History to earn 1st Team All Central Indiana Conference Honors all four years of her career. Woodard earned her 3rd All Conference Honor-2nd 1st Team as did Travis who was last year’s Conference Champion. Rowland earned her 2nd Honorable Mention All Conference Honor of her career.

Sophomore Lydia Trexler and Junior Abby Sneed rounded out the Varsity Top 7 in 22nd and 23rd respectively. Freshman Quinn Brunner was a Top 30 Varsity finisher in 26th.

The Lady Eagles are off for two weeks before competing in the IHSAA Marion Sectional on Saturday October 13th back at IWU.

Top 25 Ranked OHXC Golden Eagles Win 8th Straight Conference Title – Sweet, Jackson, Tippey Go 1-2-3, 10 Golden Eagles Earn All CIC Honors

The 25th State Ranked OHXC Golden Eagles scored a low 21 points to win their 8th straight Central Indiana Conference Championship Saturday at Indiana Wesleyan. Overall it was the Golden Eagle’s 19th Conference Title the last 22 seasons. Madison Grant was 2nd with 58 points while Eastbrook was 3rd with 100.

The Golden Eagles set a program record by in all having 10 athletes earn All Conference Honors including 5 1st Team Selections. Senior Trenton Sweet was the individual champion in 16:12 on the soft IWU course in muggy conditions. Classmate Owen Jackson and Sophomore Corban Tippey followed Sweet for a strong 1-2-3 finish. Jackson was the defending champion and coverd the 5k course in 16:28 while Tippey had the best day by far of any of the Golden Eagles posting a new personal best of 16:48 for a strong 3rd. As a result of their Top 10 finishes Sweet, Jackson, and Tippey were all 1st Team All Conference selections. Joining them on the 1st Team were Senior Toby Sneed who finished 5th and Freshman Kyle Brower who took 10th.

Five additional Golden Eagle athletes earned All Conference Honorable Mention Honors with their performances Saturday. Senior AJ Austin was 12th, Sophomore Brayden Sommers 13th, Freshman Wyatt Hart 17th, Junior Owen Roth 18th, and Senior Kaleb Westgate 20th.

Sweet and Jackson each earned 1st Team All Conference Honors for the 4th time in their careers. In doing so they became just the 5th and 6th Golden Eagle athletes in Program History to earn 1st Team All Central Indiana Conference Honors all four years of their careers.

Sneed earned his 2nd 1st Team Selction and 3rd overall All Conference Honor. Tippey’s 1st Team selection was his 2nd in his career. Austin and Roth both earned their 2nd career All Conference Honors as well.

The Golden Eagles are off for two weeks befing competing in the IHSAA Marion Sectional Saturday 13th back at IWU.
