Knights Dominate Fremont


The Southwood football team played host to Fremont in their sectional opener Friday, defeating the Eagles 38-14.

The Knights would get on the scoreboard before ever running a play when Coan Holloway ran the opening kickoff back 97yds for a 7-0 lead after the Cooper Drake kick. The Knights led 7-0 after one.

Fremont would tie the score in the second with 4:12 on the clock when they blocked a punt and recovered it in the endzone. The Knights would respond with a scoring drive with 2:12 left when Griffin Chambers found Maddox Marshall from 14yds out to lead 14-7 at the half.

Southwood would extend their lead in the third when Bryce Rigney scored from 5yds out for a 21-7 lead after three.

Jaret Denny would setup the Knights next score early in the fourth with an interception he took back to the Fremont 5-yard line before Chambers scored from 4yds out to make it 28-7. Fremont would answer with a 73yd passing score with 9:25 left for a 28-14 score. The Knights had the answer when Marshall scored from 5yds out after Chambers had hooked up with Luke Pershing on a long pass play. Owen Enyeart sealed the deal with an interception before Cooper Drake would cap off the scoring with a 25yd field goal for the 38-14 final.
