Norse Wrestling Falls To #1 Rochester
The Wrestling Norsemen traveled to Rochester to take on the #1 1A Ranked Zebras Tuesday Night.
The bouts included Junior Varsity, Girls, and Varsity Action. The Lady Norsemen won their meet 24-12, winning four of six matches, all via pinfall.
Junior Ella Gahl continued her 41-match undefeated streak, scoring a pin over Amber Blackburn in 1:24. Junior Lindsey Dill furthered her record to 11-3, avenging a previous loss by pinning Laine Peppler in 46 seconds. Sophomore Ella France pinned Makenna McKee in 2:45, and Freshman Amarah Frieden pinned Lakodah Clevenger in 5:44. The Boy’s Varsity Team lost to the Zebras 48-18. Norsemen Victories included: Senior Layne Denton pinned Ethan Amezquita in 2:15. Sophomore Isaac Stakeman won via a Forfeit. Freshman Corbin Goshert pinned Maison Ramsey in 42 seconds. The night’s most exciting matches were Freshman Eli Gahl battling #7 state-ranked Sophomore Layne Horn, resulting in Gahl losing 8-1, and Sophomore Tate Barlow losing by one point in the final second of the match to Senior DJ Basham, score 6-5. The Norsemen’s performance greatly improved from last year’s 71-6 defeat by the Zebras. The Norsemen next travel to take on the Kings of Lewis-Cass on Tuesday, November 28th.
