Manchester Swimming Falls To Maconaquah
The Manchester swim teams fell to Maconaquah Thursday.
The boys swim team lost to a tough Maconaquah team 141-36. Cale Bennett fought through sickness to take the Squires’ lone first place finish, winning the 100 butterfly. He also took 2nd in the 200 freestyle and joined Gabe Selleck, Cam Peacock,and Luca Jelen to take 2nd in the 200 medley relay. Peacock continued his strong start to the season with a pair or 2nd place finishes in the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke. The Squires will wrap up their busy week on Saturday at the Warsaw Invitational.
The girls swim team dropped their first meet of year, falling to Maconaquah 60-121. Manchester kept things close until diving when Maconaquah pulled away from the short-handed Squires. Manchester was led by Rachel Garcia who won three events. Individually Garcia took first in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle in season bests times. She also led off the victorious 200 medley relay team along with Hannah Eberly, Joanna Eberly, and Noelle Walt. Hannah Eberly was first in the 100 breaststroke and third in the 200 freestyle. Joanna Eberly finished first in the 100 butterfly and 2nd in the 200 IM. The 200 freestyle relay team of Hannah Eberly, Evyn Fox, Sophie Anglin, and Garcia finished second. Manchester wraps up the busy week on Saturday at the Warsaw Invitational.
