Apaches Defend Home Court Against Knights

The Wabash Apaches played host to county rival Southwood Friday, defeating the Knights 59-41.

Izaak Wright would get things started with a three and after an Alex Dinkins bucket Wabash led 5-2. A daslton Barney free throw and a bucket from Griffin Chambers tied the score 5-5. The Knights would then get back to back buckets from Maddox Marshall to grab a 9-8 lead before Wright drained another long ball, followed by a three and a duece from Trevor Daughtry to give the Apaches a 16-9 lead after one.

Daughtry would hit again to start the second quarter as the Wabash lead grew to 18-9 before a Bryce Wilcox bucket. Brayten Eis would get in on the action for Wabash along with Wright to increase the Wabash lead to 28-14. Chambers and Wilcox would make it 28-18 before a Dinkins bucket and a free throw, followed by a Grant Ford bucket made it 33-18 at the half.

Daughtry and Wright would go to work in the third while Marshall and Chambers kept the Knights in the game. Wabash would extend their lead to 47-34 after three before going on to win 59-41.

Wabash Scoring : Trevor Daughtry 16, Braydon French 2, Grant Ford 6, Alex Dinkins 9, Brayten Eis 7, Izaak Wright 19

Southwood Scoring : Keaton Metzger 1, Maddox Marshall 10, Griffin Chambers 14, Jater Denney 2, Bryce Wilcox 12, Randy Boone 1, Dalton Barney 1.

Southwood won the junior varsity contest 40-36 and the C team game 41-25. Stats from these games will be added when received.
