Lady Kings Improve to 6-1 with 51-36 Victory Over Logansport

In a game of ups and downs, the Lady Kings hang on to earn their 6th win of the season with a 51-36 final over Logansport. The Kings started the game hot with an 11-0 start over the Lady Berries. However, Logansport was able to stay in the game as they hit four of their six 3 pointers in the first half to keep things close. The Berries were even able to pull within 2 points in the 3rd quarter until Faith Helvie nailed a three from deep to keep the Berries at bay. Kinsey Mennen was an emphasis early and often as the Kings’ zone offense was focused on getting her the basketball. Mennen scored 18 points and pulled down 10 rebounds as she helped the Kings to a victory and also earned honors to the Cass County All-Tournament Team. Another top scorer for the Lady Kings was Aftin Griffin, who was able to get some late game steals and transition baskets as she aided the Kings victory with 13 points. Griffin was also clutch from the free throw line as she went 7 of 8 on the evening. Faith Helvie hit two huge threes to give her 6 points on the night. Anna Hedrick added 7 points, 4 of those coming in the 4th quarter. Mylie Sipe added 4 points and Heta Kosunen put in 3 points.

Despite a tough loss to Caston on Wednesday night, the Lady Kings are off to their best start since 2001. The girls return to action Tuesday night as they head to Rossville to face the 5-3 Lady Hornest.
