Manchester Swimmers Split With Rochester
The Manchester swim teams split with Rochester Thursday.
Girls Swimming Cruises Past Rochester
Manchester won 10 of 12 events to defeat Rochester 120-48 on Thursday night in North Manchester. Rachel Garcia (50 freestyle, 500 freestyle), Elena Lawrance (200 IM, 100 backstroke), Hannah Eberly (100 freestyle, 100 breaststroke), and Joanna Eberly (200 freestyle, 100 butterfly) each won two individual events. Winning the 200 medley relay for Manchester was the team of Joanna Eberly, Garcia, Sophie Anglin, and Raegen Shah. The relay team of Hannah Eberly, Kadence Fox, Laynen DeLaughter and Anglin took first in the 200 freestyle relay. Many Squire swimmers swam new events and several saw big improvments. Raegen Shah had a strong first swims in the 200 freestyle and 100 breaststroke, Averi Thomas had a big improvement in the 100 freestyle, and Noelle Walt swam a lifetime best in the 100 butterfly. Manchester will head back out on the road on Monday when they travel to Elwood.
Boys Varsity Swimming falls to Rochester
The boys team swam well but were outmanned by a tough Rochester team, falling 109-50. Cale Bennett and Cam Peacock’s pair of second place finishes led the Squires. Bennett finished second in the 200 freestyle and was just out-touched in the 100 butterfly despite season best times. Peacock was 2nd in the 200 IM and swam a season best in the 100 breaststroke to finish second. Also finishing second were Luca Jelen in the 100 freestyle and Jet Thomas in the 100 backstroke. The 200 medley relay of Bennett, Peacock, Gabe Selleck, and Thomas were second in the 200 medley relay. Selleck, Caleb Struble-Hedstrom, Peacock, and Jelen finished second in the 200 freestyle relay and Bennett, Jelen, Thomas, and Struble-Hedstrom were second in the 400 freestyle relay. Manchester travels to Elwood on Monday.
