Manchester Swim Teams Split With Columbia City
The Manchester swim teams split with Columbia City Monday.
Girls Varsity Swimming falls to Columbia City on Senior Night
After two weeks of hard holiday practices, a tired Manchester girls team lost a close meet to Columbia City 76-93. Rachel Garcia led the Squires with three first place finishes. Garcia won the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle and teamed with Hannah Eberly, Noelle Walt, and Joanna Eberly to win the 200 freeestyle relay. Joanna Eberly had a pair of second place finishes in the 200 IM and 100 butterfly and Hannah Eberly took second in the 100 breaststroke. During the meet, our four senior swimmers and our senior manager, Olivia Davis, were recognized. Hannah Eberly, Evyn Fox, Miriam Struble-Hedstrom, and Adia Selleck have all been 4-year varsity swimmers. Their contributions to the swimming team, both in and out of the pool, have been significant and they will leave behind a lasting legacy. Manchester will compete in their last dual meet of the season on Thursday when they host Bluffton.
Boys Varsity Swimming beats Columbia City
Behind two individual wins from both Cam Peacock and Cale Bennett, the Manchester boys swim team topped Columbia City 67-58 on Senior Night. Peacock took first in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle and Bennett was victorious in the 200 IM and 100 butterfly. Bennett and Peacock joined Jerry Yen, and Jan Vrkoc to also take first in the 400 freestyle relay. Jet Thomas had a pair of second place finishes in the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke, Gabe Selleck took second in the 50 freestyle, and Jan Vrkoc was second in the 100 breaststroke. While there are no senior boy swimmers, the team’s exchange students, Jerry Yen and Jan Vrkoc were recognized during the meet for their contributions to the team this year. Manchester will compete in their final dual meet of the season on Thursday when they host Bluffton.
