A few days late but we are working on North Miami athletics to send us results so we can recognize their hard working athletes

On the day North Miami resumed school, the boys basketball team had their next task on the same day. Argos High School was coming to town, and the Warriors needed to be ready for anything. With Argos being a young team this year, it was a great opportunity for NM to bring the energy early on and look to secure their first win in nearly two months. After winning the seaon opener, the Warriors have had their share of struggles both inside and outside of conference play. This game was going to be their next best opportunity to put the past behind them and capture a victory at home.

Argos came out of the gate scoring quickly and easily. After running their offense well for the first few possessions, the Dragons quickly got up to an 8-0 lead before the Warriors entered the scoring column. With the combination of a slow start on both ends and not executing well, the Warriors found themselves down 13 after the first quarter. In between quarters, the Warriors found a little fire inside themselves and came out ready to battle in the second. About halfway through, the Warriors started to make their own little run and cut the lead to single digits at one point. Argos fought back and tied the quarter, holding on to their 13 point lead.

The Warriors kept the intensity up for the majority of the second half. Unfortunately, so did the Dragons and they kept NM more than an arm’s reach from the lead. North Miami won the third quarter in a back and forth competition to see who would give in first and lose momentum. In the fourth, the Warriors were able to cut the lead to 6 at one point, but Argos had an answer for everything. Soon the Warriors started running out of gas and having too many empty possessions. The final two minutes had a lot of fouls from the Warriors, but Argos converted their free throws and walked away with a 60-44 victory over the Warriors.

Not the final result NM was hoping for, but they stayed in the game for the most part. The team didn’t convert possessions early on and dug themselves a near impossible hole to climb out of. They had to go harder than ever to try to get back in the game, and it eventually wore them out. Now dropping their eleventh straight contest, North Miami has another great opportunity in front of them. They will travel to Northfield in their fifth TRC game of the year to take on the Norsemen. The Warriors will look to up their game earlier on and take an upset victory on the road.
