Results from Huntington North for Saturday, January 27th
Viking Win NE8 Game over Dekalb
The Vikings came out on a mission and dominated the first quarter with stellar defensive plays. They shut down DeKalb’s offense and got out to an early lead with a 12-0 first quarter score. Throughout the game, the Vikes were able to maintain a steady lead. Huntington North went into the locker room at the half with a seven point lead (20-13).
The largest lead for the Vikings happened in the 3rd quarter when the Vikings led 40-22. Although Huntington North struggled to knock down all their free throws towards the end of the game, they were able to pull off a Conference win with a final score of 56-44.
It was an overall great team effort. The Vikings were led by Junior Ethan Zahn with 20 points and 6 rebounds. Freshmen Titus Schultz was electric tonight with his first Varsity start of his young career. Schultz knocked in 5 of his 8 three point attempts, and had 17 points overall. Senior Zach Nash was 4/4 from the free throw line and contributed 10 points with 4 assists for the Vikings. Sophomore Dalton Husband crashed the boards with 7 rebounds and 5 points. Sophomore Blaine Freiburger contributed 4 points and 3 rebounds.
The Huntington North Vikings are back at it on Thursday, February 1st at Carroll (Fort Wayne) with a JV tip off of 6pm.
