Northfield JH Girls Take Two From Manchester

The Northfield junior high girls basketball teams took two games from Manchester Monday night.

7th Grade vs Manchester (33 – 25) Win
The Lady Norse played against a very tall and athletic Manchester team on Monday night. The Norse were victorious as they beat the Squires 33-25. The game started off by a Vivian Rife three pointer and 4 quick points by Miranda Meyer. The Norse led the entire game and played incredible team defense. All five starters were in the scoring column for the Norse spearheaded by Miranda Meyer with a season high 12 points and 2 rebounds. Avery Custer poured in 7 points, 2 steals. Gemma Haupert had 6 points, 5 rebounds, 1 steal. Tenley Kuhn had a great defensive night and scored key points for us at the end, ending with 5 points, 6 rebounds, 2 rebounds, and Vivian Rife rounded out the scoring with 3 points and 1 rebound. The Lady Norse improved to 10-3 on the season and head south of town on Tuesday to play Southwood.

Scoring for the Squires was as follows:

Clare D’Andrea – 2

8th Grade vs Manchester (27 – 22) Win
8th Grade Lady Norse BB had a tough battle with Lady Squires Monday Night. They were able to secure a 27-22 win. Ladies are now 10-2 on the season and will now play Southwood Tuesday night at Southwood. Totals are as follows: Emily Miller-13 pts, 5 reb, and 3 steals; Teagan Baer-9 pts, 3 reb, and 4 stls; Andrea Widemon-3 pts and 2 stls; Ali Copeland-2pts, 1 reb, and 4 stls; Kyra Aderman-2 reb, and 1 stl; and Addi Wischman-1 reb.

The 8th grade Lady Squires traveled the short distance south to take on Northfield tonight. The girls played extremely well but still found themselves down by 5 points at halftime. The girls then outscored Northfield 7-2 in the 3rd quarter to tie the game with momentum on our side! The score stayed close in the 4th quarter, but Northfield made a few more plays down the stretch to close out the game. The girls are competing very well against good teams and still learning how to finish games. Keep working girls!
