Knights Take Care Of Eastbrook

The Southwood Knights got off to a slow start before finding their mojo in a 71-57 win over Eastbrook Tuesday.

Eastbrook would score the first seven points of the game and led 12-5 before the Knights got going. Two Bryce Wilcox started an 8-0 run to grab a 13-12 lead. Three different players scored during the run. Led by Will Winer, Wilcox and Maddox Marshall, Southwood led 19-18 after one.

Bo Liddick would drain a three to start the second quarter, followed by a Marshall bucket to lead 24-18. Eastbrook would then have an answer, outscoring the Knights 9-2 to grab a 27-26 lead. Wilcox would answer with back-to-back buckets, followed by a Marshall bucket to lead 32-27. Marshall and Winer would do the remainder of the scoring in the quarter as Southwood led 44-35 at the half.

Caleb Wyatt would get the Knights going in the third, scoring the first five points that included a three pointer as the lead grew to 51-35. Wyatt would two more times in the quarter while the Knights held off an Eastbrook surge for a 63-50 lead after three.

Will Winer and Jaret Denney would do all the scoring in the fourth as Southwood went on to the 71-57 win.

The Southwood junior varsity fell to Eastbrook 42-40.

Southwood C Team rolled past Eastbrook 32-21 Tuesday night at the Castle. Despite a cold shooting first quarter that found the hosts behind 6-4, the Knights turned up the heat for a 14-11 halftime lead and never trailed again.

Josiah Chellis once again led the winners with 15 points, including 7-10 from the charity stripe. Griffin Liddick canned a trey on his way to 5 points. Ross Andrews and Ashton Dague tallied four points each. Tucker Whybrew and Kallen Gidley rounded out the scoring with two points each.
