Knights Fall In Sectional Semi’s
The Southwood basketball team took on Canterbury in the sectional semi finals Friday, falling 67-53.
Southwood took on Canterbury in the second game. The Knights grabbed a quick 4-0 lead on buckets from Jaret Denney and Maddox Marshall, then led 7-2 on a second Marshall bucket. Canterbury would come back and tie the score 7-7 before two free throws from Will Winer made it 9-7 Knights. Canterbury would answer with 8 straight points to grab a 15-9 lead before Winer stopped the run with a bucket. Canterbury led 17-11 after one.
Down 20-11 to start the second quarter, Bryce Wilcox converted a three point play to make it 20-14. Canterbury led 26-17 when a Winer free throw and one from Bo Liddick made it 26-19. Liddick had hit a three the possession before. Canterbury led 28-19 at the half.
The pace of the game would intensify in the third with each team scoring 22 points. Canterbury led 50-41 after the stop. Marshall led the charge with 10 points in the quarter.
Canterbury would extend their lead to 56-41 early in the fourth. The Knights scored 12 points in the quarter with Marshall doing the damage with 10 again. Canterbury would hold off the Knights for the 67-53 final.
